Must read

Beiersdorf has introduced the EcoBeautyScore on its NIVEA and Eucerin Face Care products. The environmental label is now visible on product detail pages for both brands, starting with key European markets.

Ecobeutyscore was developed through collaboration with more than 70 companies, business groups and partners in the individual care sector. This is designed to help consumers understand the environmental impact of cosmetics in a clear and continuous way. System offers rankings from A to E, which represents the lowest environmental footprint.

On the NIVA website, 99% of facial care products reached one or B -point. These results follow the widespread changes made in product formulas and packaging. The label is introduced online in Germany, France and the United Kingdom, after several countries.

Eucerin face care products are also included. All products from the range have obtained one or B -rating. The results are available on the global Eucarin website, with a local roll -out plan during 2025.

Ecobeutyscore uses a science -based approach. This includes 16 environmental sectors including formulating design, packaging material, production and disposal. The score is calculated using a shared digital tool that was launched in March 2025. Companies can currently rank products in four categories: facial care, body wash, hair wash and hair treatment.

The label is the result of over three years of industry work to create a common standard for sustainability in cosmetics. The goal is to give consumers easy access to environmental data and encourage informed product choices. The label also supports broader efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of the beauty industry.

Beiersdorf’s implementation of the EcoBeautyScore reflects its long-term product transformation programme. Both NIVEA and Eucerin have seen changes to ingredients and packaging aimed at lowering environmental impact while maintaining product quality.

By adopting the EcoBeautyScore, Beiersdorf supports a shared industry goal of transparency and progress in sustainable cosmetics. The company plans to expand the label across additional markets and categories as development continues.

The introduction of EcoBeautyScore for NIVEA and Eucerin marks a key step in consumer-facing sustainability and aligns with wider efforts to standardise environmental labeling in personal care.
